Economy puts bite on animal shelters | The Indianapolis Star | indystar.com: The only animal shelter in Putnam County is closing this month. A Hendricks County woman has started a food bank for pets.
Across Central Indiana, animal lovers say a combination of government austerity and high unemployment is putting tremendous strain on pet shelters.
