House committee to hold border security forum in Brownsville | border, brownsville, security - TheMonitor.com: The “Secure our Texas Border Forum” begins at 10 a.m. Monday and will be held at the Arts Center at the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. The forum is open to the public.

U.S. Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, will host the program along with other members of the committee. Federal, state and local officials as well as individuals directly affected by violent crime along the border will testify.

Those scheduled to speak include Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez Jr. and Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety. Both testified at a similar hearing held earlier this year in Washington.
